Tower Hill State Game Reserve is a wildlife reserve in the crater of an inactive volcano about 14km from Warrnambool along the main highway to Port Fairy. The crater is about 4km across and 80m high, forming the perfect refuge for resident koalas, kangaroos, and emus. The crater lake is home to an array of waterbirds. Emus are usually the most inquisitive and will come right up to the car window looking for food.
The nearby town of Koroit and surrounding farmland shows much evidence of the early Irish workers enticed to Australia in the mid 1800’s.Tweet
