The Cumberland is one of the wild rivers in the Otways. A short drive about 7 kilometres south west of Lorne with great ocean and forest outlooks brings you into a spectacular gorge and the Cumberland River meeting the sea.
It runs to the sea through a magnificent gorge that is visible from The Great Ocean Road. A short walk along the track from the car park will reward you with views of the river and gorge walls. Further along the gorge are stands of 100 metre high mountain ash trees that are part of the area’s cool temperate rainforest.
For the more adventurous there is a medium difficulty trek to Jebb’s Pool and Cumberland Falls. That’s about a three hour round trip.Tweet
