Aire River Crossing is a few hundred metres east of Beech Forest look for a right turn onto the Aire Valley Road. It is a good gravel road and is marked by signs to Hopetoun Falls and Beauchamp Falls.
About 10 minutes drive on the Aire Valley Road is a fairly strenuous 3 kilometre walk to a base level view of a long drop Beauchamp Falls. Allow about an hour and a half for the round trip.
A further 10 minutes drive is the carpark for the walk to Hopetoun Falls. The viewing area at the top is easily accessible for those not wanting to commit to the 15 minute walk to the base. Those that do continue down will receive their reward from a new lower viewing platform.
A few minutes on is a small bridge over the pristine Aire River. This area was test planted with softwood tree species in the 1930’s and is now home to mature stands of Californian Redwoods, Douglas Firs and many other exotic species. It is a great spot for a picnic.Tweet
